Vintage Hat Fridays! Vote for ME!!!!
Wow, it's pouring rain here- NOT the day to wear hats dependent on glue!
NOR is it a good day for flash... man this camera did not put us in the best light! (Er, anyone got a soft-focus filter I can borrow? ; ) )
So... Welcome to Vintage Hat Friday!
Stylin' Reuse Celebrated In The Workplace!
Copeland:
I had a feeling Amy would arrive in a pillbox or something, so I decided to take a 1970s loose Sexy Sadie angle to her prim elegant look. Just as I suspected!
She arrived, sharp and ready for the fight.
Bring it on!
My silver jaunty hat will kick your pillbox any day! Vote for meeeeeeeeeee!
(Amy says I look like I'm going to a horse race. 'Chile, I'm gonna take her prim-n-proper money and RUN!)
Amy:
My strategy was simple:
There were two things I knew about Friday.
It was supposed to be cold, and there is a fantastic rummage sale going on at Halcyon Vintage Clothing.
My strategy was based on staying warm and being able to shop and try things on this afternoon. My small, structured hat is yet another gift from my grandmother, and I paired it with a store bought skirt and a vintage blouse.
My purse is a purchase from my last foray at a Halcyon Rummage Sale.
Happy voting!

Amy has it in the bag again. She looks as awake as I feel. Just goes to show how confident she is in her impending victory. Game. Set. Match. Amy.
Amy looks fantastic!
Okay, I think I have to go with Copeland's 70's look. Wedge boots MAKE the outfit!! Amy does look awesome too though. karen
My mother had a floppy '70s hat just like Copeland's. It takes me back to the days of Shake-a-Puddin' and Little Kiddles. Sigh. Those were the days... She wins.
sorry Copeland, Amy wins this week. Dig the wedge boots.
Dag it, Amy's husband just emailed in his vote and he voted for HER.
Oh no, I'm torn. Amy looks smashing, but silver on top and wedges on the bottow, Copeland is looking sassy from head to toe! Let's go to the races, girlfriend!
Lo'rain
hmmm...
honestly, not a fan of either one this week. sorry guys. So, I'll rate the ensemble! Which is really tough because I love copeland's boots but Amy's jacket is divine.
uhhh....Amy!
going for the underdog this week, I vote Copeland xo
(Copeland and Amy together:)
"OUCH!"
(Pause)
Amy: Who-hoo! Still a point for me!
Ok this nice friend of Amy's is voting for...
Amy.
Dag.
"Hi Amy, I vote for you, edith. See you tonight."
Oooooh. Sorry Copeland but I have to vote for Amy. I love the jacket especially! I will vote for you as Green Twitter queen though! Go Copeland!
Sarah
do you people work or just take pictures of each other? my hat will kick your hats ass.
Bring it on!
That'd better be some some hat!
I ain't scared- Post a link here!
I gotta vote for Amy's look this week, but I love your hat Copeland! Can I give you a half point >.>?
Awwwww, dag. Via email:
"Amy,
Love seeing the getups that you and Copeland come up with, but seem to be having trouble voting at the site. Wrote a comment and selected to publish it, but it never took, so figure it got dropped somewhere. Seem to have problems with blog sites as they never seem to work as they direct you. Anyway, I voted for you, even if the site dropped my vote.
Aunt Peg"
Morgan Pierce of The R1 Residential weighs in!
"Stop playing “dress up” and get back to work! My vote, by the way, is for your dogs and their Carmen Miranda Kibble Chapeaus…"
Hahahahaha!
Amy wins hands down. Sorry Copeland...I'm a classisist! Though if you had paired your hat with a something like these:
Eyewear
You might have had my vote! Remember to accessorize your hat, dear!
Eep! Amy's plan worked! All the architects are voting for whomever is wearing black!
*Even* Eric Drivdahl of Green Cottage Kits!
http://www.greencottagekits.com
Well. That just made *MY* future strategies easier!
uh, hmm, yeah,
that's got to be it
because Amy wore Black, lol
that was me, your sister-with my hat kickin your hats ass....you know the picture
Amy - You have my vote. Your clothes and hat are great, but the expression on your face makes the whole outfit top notch.
Amy almost had me by invoking her Grandmother, until I realizes I was being subtlety manipulated and deducted a point for that, which means you've got my vote this week Copeland.
From Chris N, a graphic designer...
; )
"I like them both the hats and the way the orange tree magically
grows out of both of them in pictures 3,4 & 5 is amazing."
But Chris, who'd ya vote for?!?
Mint julep anyone? Hands down Copeland!
Really, might we not expand this? We're having waaaaaaay too much fun with Friday reuse / patronizing local small thrift shops to not share the love.
Who wants Casual Friday any-hoo?
Bring it on, NYC!
: )
Uh...Copeland wore black LAST week...I don't recall her raking in the votes due to color.
Let's keep the discussion centered on style and ACCESSORIES.
Copeland, definitely!!!!
Eric!?! Et tu????
; )
Curses, guess we can't just blanket-statement you architects.
Dag, game ON!
But I want to see a Gelotte Hommas / Grace Street / David Day participation!
Hahahahahahaha!
FASHION FLASH:
Time for NYC to weigh in!
Yes, Darlings, apologies for my tardiness---
It's been a busy weekend/start of new week here in NYC...all those Joe 6 packs and plumbers shamelessly clogging Rock Centre on Saturday night, etc., etc. etc. Fuhgeddabbouddit.
Back to the critical issue at hand...Fashion!
Amy, I thank you for taking my "black is always the new black" comment so seriously, and bringing on the black this week. You do look lovely.
However, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and you're just feeling a wee bit "Last Week's Copeland" to me.
So, bringing it to us fresh, light, sparkly, and retro, I give this to Copeland for her lovely, refreshing look.
Love and Peace from NYC
